Apart of a class project at Rochester Institute of Technology, Building the 3D Character SOFA 583.01, our semester long assignment involved us to model, rig, and texture a character of our own.
This was the first proper rig that I had ever built on my own. A few elements that we were required to include in our rigs were FK/IK arms, legs, and spine with an extra control that would allow us to switch between the two. For the face I used blendshapes with a floating interface for the animator to easily access. Then with the use of set driven keys I was able to create attributes on a floating control for the fingers.
Through this project I learned that a rig is only as good as the typology of the model.
