As the lead Sound Designer/Mixer for this project, the short film is an experimental film of an internal struggle that the director was going through and how she imagined the resolve to be.
This is one of my first experimental films to work on. The imagery in the beginning, with the transitions between the four types of vignettes/boxes, were some of the most enjoyable parts while working on this film. After establishing how each vignette/box was going to sound like, I then re-used and incorporated those sounds into later shots, allowing everything to circle back and be re-envisioned in a different way.
My favorite part was definitely the flowers pulling and blooming. Although, there aren't any people in the film, being able to relate that this is a film about a human experience was something I wanted to do.
The biggest challenge of this film was probably managing all of the different spaces, allowing each to stand out but also stay cohesive as one was difficult. Though, it was a challenge that ended up being one of the best parts of this project.
As a disclaimer, the director/animator is still editing a few things in this film so the visuals are not a final product yet.
